Citizens on Patrol

Graduates of the McKinney Citizen Police Academy may choose to do more within the volunteer corps. To meet that need, McKinney Police has created a special unit of volunteers called Citizens on Patrol. Selected volunteers undergo additional training, and are sworn-in to work in a non-law enforcement capacity, supporting the McKinney Police Department (MPD). This group is under the direct administration of McKinney Police, and is used for non-emergency calls, helping prevent and deter criminal activity.  COPs assist MPD with high-visibility neighborhood patrols, vacation house watches, warrant calling, community awareness, city events, and Skywatch observation. For more information on the COP program, click here to visit the city of McKinney website.
